After breakfast, depart Kigali and journey northwest through Rwanda’s breathtaking countryside toward Volcanoes National Park. The drive reveals why Rwanda is known as the “Land of a Thousand Hills,” with a landscape of rolling green valleys, terraced farms and vibrant rural villages set against a backdrop of dramatic volcanic peaks.
Upon arrival at your lodge, nestled in the foothills of the Virunga Mountains, settle into your surroundings in the heart of gorilla country. This remarkable region is home to the endangered mountain gorillas and offers a tranquil setting of lush forests and sweeping mountain views.

Today brings the highlight of your journey. After breakfast, travel to Ruhengeri for a briefing from park rangers before beginning your gorilla trek.
Your adventure begins with a walk through farmland to the edge of the forest before entering the national park in search of a gorilla family. Once located, the experience of observing these gentle giants in their natural environment is truly unforgettable — often described as one of the most profound wildlife encounters in the world.
After the trek, return to your lodge for a well-earned lunch and time to reflect on this extraordinary experience.

- Day 4 | Golden Monkey Trek & Return to Kigali
This morning return to Volcanoes National Park for another remarkable wildlife experience – tracking the lively and endangered Golden Monkeys.
Following a ranger briefing, enter the forest with experienced trackers to locate these charismatic primates known for their striking golden-orange fur and playful nature. Unlike gorilla trekking, golden monkey tracking typically involves shorter and less strenuous hikes, allowing for excellent viewing opportunities as the monkeys leap through bamboo forests and forage on the forest floor.
After the excursion, return to your lodge for lunch before departing for the scenic drive back to Kigali.
If time permits, guests may choose to visit the twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo, two breathtaking volcanic lakes surrounded by terraced hills and fishing communities (payable locally).
