An unforgettable Arctic journey through Svalbard and East Greenland, featuring expert-led exploration, Zodiac cruises, and guided experiences in some of the world’s most remote and dramatic wilderness landscapes.

Itinerary

DAY 1
Arrive in Oslo

Arrive in Oslo and check in at Radisson Blu Airport Hotel, Oslo Gardermoen. Visit the Aurora Expeditions desk for cabin tags and pre-embarkation info, then enjoy the rest of the day at leisure. Meals at own expense.

DAY 2
Longyearbyen, embarkation
After breakfast, ensure your cabin luggage is labelled and ready for transfer to the airport for your charter flight to Longyearbyen. Upon arrival, explore the town on a guided tour before being transferred directly to the pier to board your expedition vessel. Once on board, settle into your cabin, attend mandatory safety briefings, and enjoy the thrill of departure. Timing is dependent on flight arrival.

DAY 3-5
Svalbard
Explore Svalbard at its wildest, where our experienced Expedition Team adapts each day’s journey to weather, sea ice, and wildlife opportunities. Sail through dramatic fjords, mountain ranges, and fossil-rich polar deserts shaped by early exploration history. Spot walrus hauled out on ice or beaches, and stretch your legs across tundra dotted with colourful wildflowers. Visit towering seabird cliffs alive with guillemots and puffins, and scree slopes home to vast little auk colonies.

Optional kayaking is offered when conditions allow, and for the bold, the chance of a polar plunge may arise, an unforgettable Arctic experience.

DAY 6-7
At Sea
As we sail toward the coast of East Greenland, watch for whales in the rich northern waters and increasing pack ice, where seals and seabirds such as northern fulmars and Brünnich’s guillemots may appear.

This remote region, shaped by strong icy currents, supports abundant marine life and is often wrapped in shifting morning fog that clears with the midday sun. Our Expedition Team will share insights into the wildlife, ice, and history of exploration throughout the journey.

DAY 8-13
East Greenland
In East Greenland, each day unfolds differently as ice, weather, and wildlife shape our path. The Expedition Team will craft flexible itineraries, offering up to two Zodiac cruises or landings daily among ice cliffs, whales, and untouched Arctic waters.

This is a world of dramatic scale; towering fjords, calving glaciers, and tundra alive with musk ox, Arctic hare, and reindeer. Ancient Thule sites and historic Inuit settlements reveal the deep human history of this remote frontier. We may visit Ittoqqortoormiit and explore the vast Scoresbysund, with journeys continuing through remote fjords where narwhals, seals, seabirds, and even polar bears may appear.

DAY 14
Denmark Strait
Crossing the Denmark Strait, we head for Iceland, watching for whale spouts and seabirds gliding alongside the ship in strong Arctic winds.

DAY 15
